Meet Da'Vonne Rogers - She Plans to Take Everyone's Money This Summer #BB17

1.  Da'Vonne Rogers is a 27 year old woman from Inglewood California who works in a casino.  She is a very vibrant person who uses her whole body as punctuation when she speaks.  In fact, you can probably just flip through the pictures in this post to get a good idea of Da'Vonne's personality.

2.  She pronounces her name "Day-Von" and I think she my go by "Day" for short.  She has a big, vibrant personality and seems very genuine in her interactions with Jeff.  Da'Vonne is having the time of her life in the DR with Big Jeff.

Da'Vonne:  I'm a poker dealer in Inglewood California.

Jeff:  What? What?

Da'Vonne:  Sssshhhhhh!   Sssshhhh!

3.  Da'Vonne is going to keep that a secret from her house mates this summer.

Jeff:  I just gave you that look because I think you've taken my money before!

Da'Vonne, cracking up:  Well, YOU sat down....YOU sat down!

 4.  Da'Vonne isn't just a fan of Big Brother...she stresses that she LOVES the show.

Da'Vonne:  I've been a fan since BB1, when the show went from an experiment to a legit game!

(Speaking of that experiment, I revisited the very first episode of BB1 earlier this week and noticed the same can see that here.)

5.  Jeff tells her that she made it, she's here now and she should look around and enjoy it.

Da'Vonne:  I know!  This is starting to get real now....oh SNAP!

6.  Jeff wonders why she plans to keep her profession a secret from the other house guests.  Da'Vonne says that she doesn't want them to know that she is a good poker player.

Da'Vonne:  Some of the best poker dealers used to be the best poker players!

Jeff:  Really? Because some of the guys I've worked with are big idiots!

Jeff is being funny here, but is obviously very bitter about this---is his gambling habit common knowledge?  I knew Jeff likes to fish, but I didn't know he liked to visit the casinos.  I don't have a lot of "CPA moments" on this website, but I will have one now:

As someone who has struggled with trying to find his place in life and a somewhat reliable source of income, Jeff Schroeder SHOULD NOT be gambling now.  I'm pretty sure he used financial concerns as one of the major reasons why he could not commit to Jordan for so long.  Gambling is NOT the way to go for Jeff and I hope this comes up in their season of Marriage Boot Camp, currently airing now.  Jordan is saying that she'd like to have four kids, "if they can afford it".  Proceed very cautiously, Jordan.

And while I'm at it, I don't doubt what Da'Vonne is saying here, but if a poker player was so good at it, why would they become a dealer?  And does it matter if a dealer is a good poker player?  Don't they just shuffle and pull up the cards as they come?  They don't give advice or use strategy, do they?  I know they need to be able to spot a cheater, but if they can win big money playing on a consistent basis, than why would they give that up to be a dealer?

Do they get commissions?  I know they can get nice tips from the winners, but that hardly seems worth it.  And if they had to quit playing due to a gambling addiction, the last place they should be is a casino, right?

7.  Da'Vonne is a single mother, and has a 7 month-old daughter.  She says her daughter is her "pumpy-umpkins" (or something like that) whose name is Cadence.  Not sure about the spelling of that, but that's my best guess.  Da'Vonne is "fresh out" of an 8 year relationship.  She and Jeff laugh about being single on the live feeds and letting everybody know that.  She thinks a showmance would put a target on her and although there might be a chance it might help her, she plans to just "leave that alone this summer".

8.  The only time she's been away from Cadence since her birth was the week of Big Brother casting.  It's going to be hard for her on a daily basis, because she knows she's going to miss a lot, like maybe the first tooth, the first steps taken, but she has to focus on her goal and use Cadence as her motivation, or her "Why".

9.  Here's Jeff waiving Hello to Cadence in the picture below.

Da'Vonne:  Oh Boo....Jeff's waving at you!

Da'Vonne says she wants to win the money to "start a foundation for her daughter".

OK.  Unfortunately we're going to have to have another CPA moment to set something straight.

You DO NOT set up a "foundation" to support your child.  A Foundation is a non-profit entity that must undergo a rigorous application process with both the IRS and the State in order to be granted status as income tax-free.  They review your "charitable mission", and your plans to achieve it, and then your annual tax filings have to report how you did that, and what you accomplished and how much of your income supported that goal.

I think what Da'Vonne means is that she wants to save her potential BB winnings in some sort of fund for her daughter to use for college, etc.  And that is perfectly fine, of course, and there are also numerous programs out there where she can optimize her state taxes while saving for Cadence's education.  She might also mean that she wants to set up a trust for her, but that requires a lawyer  and Saul Goodman ain't doing that for free, if you know what I mean.

I know this is boring, but I don't want people to think they can set up a foundation and live off of the money.

10.  One drawback to Da'Vonne's personality that might get her in trouble in the game is that she's loud and can be too direct with people.  Her grandmother taught her to "say what you mean, and mean what you say" and she knows this can get her in trouble if she's not careful this summer.

Da'Vonne:  You have to be a heart rate monitor in gotta say what you mean, then slow it down....say what you mean, then slow it down.....up down and up down....

Jeff:  You got it though!  You gotta roll with the punches.  And you know how to calm people down at the tables...some people get rowdy at the table like me, for gotta tell me to simmer down!

Da'Vonne:  C'mon Jeff...bring it back!

11.  When Jeff asks her the zoo animal question, she immediately spits out the word Tiger.  Jeff likes that answer and she says she thinks she may have been a tiger in a past life, or maybe a very muscular man.

She also thinks that Zingbot will make comments about her weave, but she's going to "try and keep it flawless".

12.  Jeff knows that she is there to win, and says he doesn't want to see her until the end of the summer.  Da'Vonne tells the viewers that she needs us to be on her side, and be her Ride or Die people.

Da'Vonne:  It's going to be tough, but we can do it!

Well, Da'Vonne is a pleasure to watch and listen to.  She is funny, engaging, and you can see how she established a strong bond with Jeff during this short interview.  I was worried about Da'Vonne, because her profile on the CBS website really stressed religion, and I'm not crazy about the Jesus Freaks.  (Religion is great for some people, but it is a personal matter and should not be forced on other people, or used as an excuse for your actions, in my opinion.)

This profile makes it sound like she hasn't followed the family template, so to speak, so I hope we do get to see more than just another woman who prays all the time in there.  (Yes Jocosta, I'm looking at you.)

I wonder what she'll say her profession is?  Maybe a casino cocktail waitress?  Even that might put Vanessa Rousso on high alert, though.  I love the fact that we have two potentially strong BB players who have related professions that they plan to keep quiet.

I'm guessing Da'Vonne might work at the Hollywood Park Casino, since it seems to be the big one in her area of California.

I can just feel the ice-cold air conditioning from here, looking at that snippet of a website.  And it looks like Inglewood might be a very convenient place for Big Jeff to visit, since I think he lives in Santa Monica with Jordan now.  Even that relatively short drive might feel like a long road trip when you just lost your last two paychecks, right Jeff?

I like Da'Vonne, if you couldn't tell.  She is another BB17 house guest with a big personality that seems like it's mostly positive.  There are a few other parents with young children on the cast, so that can be a bond for her, but she'll need more than that to make some fast connections to avoid being that first eviction.  The fact that there are several strange people on the cast should help her, since she comes off as so real and genuine.  (Exp:  Jason Roy) Hopefully she can stay off the radar until she's had the time to build some alliances.

Being a fan and knowing the game so well is certainly going to be a benefit for Da'Vonne.  I'm hearing some strange rumors that may play right into that strength for her this summer.

It's really not a rumor, CBS has announced the BB Takeover, so it's real.  And might be real exciting.
