Press Day Videos on Real.com

Real.com is featuring a multi-part series (at least 9 parts) documenting Press Day in the BB12 house.  I don't know if it appropriately titled or not, it seems a lot longer than a Day.  Maybe they should call it Press Weekend.

The invited journalists enter the house in clumps, just like the real show.  They run around and say they can't believe it,  it's a dream come true, let's grab a bed before everybody else does, yadda, yadda, yadda.

They even have confessionals.  But the Press HG don't have captions under their camera shots to identify them when they are on camera.   On Episode #2 they verbally introduce themselves, otherwise I would not know the following info:

There is a hipster press guy from People named Regan who is the alpha doofus hottie.   Everyone (all the gay guys) keep mentioning how handsome he is, and what great hair he has.  There's a gay black guy from CBS 2 (?), and a good looking girl named Megan from TV Guide.  There is a Big Gal from some BB website, a guy named Derek who is a writer from the AP, a guy named Ben who is cute who runs B-Side 2 (is that right?), Clair from CBS.com, and Matt Whitfield from Yahoo.com Entertainment, who seems to think he is up for an Emmy this year.  And of course Matt Maynard from WeLoveBigBrother.com.

Watching these episodes is like eating potato chips- you are happy you have them but it is hard to relish each chip while shoving them in your mouth.  They have challenges and vetos and nominations and even slop.  They are so lucky to get to do this--to see the scene from the inside without making the committment.

It is funny that the good-looking press people are from the mainstream media outlets, while the hardcore BB blogger press are not....from the mainstream media, that is. Ha ha.

The house is beautiful, but looks way too tasteful to be the final design.  It looks like a high-end Miami condo, with the blue neutrals and the shell accessories.  I remember reading that the house was rumored to be like Summer Camp, so methinks that the producers are fucking with us.  The house isn't going to look anything like this when we see it on TV.  I'll bet this version was staged--it honestly looked like a high end hotel.  For example I didn't see many tchotkes. (sp?)

For example, I don't see the Zoltar machine in the HOH room.  But he did get a food basket with predominantly placed "Puffins", which appears to be a crunchy, salty snack that may or may not be produced by a CBS sponsor.  Or maybe they just paid for the staged furniture.

Do you care who wins?  I know I don't, so I only got to Episode #7.  Maybe some other time.

Preseason Spotlight - Brendon Villegas

Once again I am recapping the preseason interviews from Real.com, conducted by BB9's Chelsea Hart.  Brendon is nearly 30 and is a swim coach in Riverside, California.

1.  Brendon's is MUCH more attractive on video then he is in his still photo.  He also looks like a big guy, and very fit from the shoulders up.  Chelsea didn't get him to stand up and do a twirl for us, but I don't think she needs to.  I'll be seeing A LOT of Brendon this summer.  Me likey.

2.  He is a workout fanatic--swimming, biking, running.  He is going to miss working out and is a little worried about not having any privacy, but he plans to "embrace that".

3. He plans to "have no strategy" (see Annie Whittington) and is going to go with the flow and stay flexible.  He will definitely flirt in the house with the girls.

4.  He isn't planing on telling anyone that he is about to start his PhD.  He has a general BA from Riverside in general physics, his MS in applied physics from somewhere else, and will get his PhD in something else that was over my head at UCLA. He got a full ride at UCLA, which is impressive, and starts school as soon as BB is over, but he doesn't plan on telling anybody that.

5.  His brother is a drug addict, who will be 37 this year, and a sister who will be 29.  If he wins he will use part of the money to get his brother treatment, because "he really needs it".  (wow)

6.  He was engaged 2.5 years ago and was brokenhearted when his fiance left him and wouldn't give the ring back.   He felt she made a promise to him and broke it, and was mean to him to top it off.  So he took her to small claims court and won, getting the ring back!  I don't think he should tell that whole story to the other HG---maybe the getting dumped part, but not the rest.  Surely he will have trouble trusting another woman again.

7.  Brendon has the chops to do just about anything in life.  He seems like one of life's winners.  But the winner of BB....I don't think so.  Even if he manages to hide the fact that he is PhD-bound, he will not be able to hide his physical prowess, nor the fact that he is highly intelligent.  I haven't met any of the HG that I think he might hook up with, but I still have 9 videos to go.

8.  What is Brendon doing in there?  He seems so normal.

9.  When Chelsea asked how he got on the show, he said that he "knew someone" and got an interview at the LA open casting and then everything happened after that.

10.  Preliminary Verdict:  He may not make it to the Sequester House, but we will enjoy watching him try.  I can't imagine they would make someone like him the Saboteur---that would mean that he won't be there the whole time, and Brendon has the potential to be the Jeff Schroeder of BB12---the most downloaded reality hunk of the year.

11.  I think the HG went into the house today.  I'll bet those whores are already elbowing each other out of the way to get a spot next to him.

Preseason Spotlight - Annie Whittington

I have to say that I really didn't want to watch Annie's interview with Chelsea Hart.  I don't know why--I think it might be the name.  I don't like the name Annie.   But I watched it so here are some random impressions of her interview.

1.  Annie is 27 and is a bartender in Tampa.  And she looks it too, with those over-plucked brows, split ends, and frosty eyeshadow.  Her parents live in Detroit.

2.  She and Chelsea really seemed to hit it off.  Her posted interview was nearly 24 minutes, compared to about 11 for the the last two HG I covered here.  Chelsea even said several times that she really likes her and gave her some advice.

3.  She was cast very late in the season--she sent in a tape and then went to an open call.  The BB people called her very recently and she has only been in California since midnight last Saturday.  Chelsea seems surprised by this.  Annie has been a BB fan since season 5.

(There  were rumors online that someone left sequester and dropped out of the process last week, prompting a last-minute cattle call at an LA bar.  I guess they dusted off Annie's application when time was tight.  Lisa who won BB3 was cast in the final days before the season started when two of the producers went to her bar and were boozing, so I guess anybody can win. )

4.  Annie is an Evel Dick fan.  She also likes the showmances like Chelsea and James.

5.  Annie has been with one girl for over 2 years ("Jen").  This is her first relationship with a woman but she considers herself bi-sexual.  She plans to flirt with the guys in the house and doesn't know when she will tell everyone that she is a relationship with a girl.

6.  She has a BA in theater and has "played a lot of characters".  She plans to use this in the house and will try to adapt to the way she needs to be to get by each week.

7.  Her strategy is to "have no strategy".  (Uh-oh)  She explains that if she puts together a plan and is totally surprised by what the show is about or who is there, she would probably freak out and self-sabotage.  She is a strong competitor and can't imagine having to throw a challenge.  She isn't the type to "make a deal and drop" in any of the competitions.

8.  She used to weigh 170 pounds. (!)  When Chelsea asked about that all she said is that having mono was a great way to lose the weight.  Hmmmmm.  She looks like a petite girl so that would be A LOT of weight on her frame.  Then she said she gained back the mono weight (!) and finally lost it all when she started working out and eating right.

9.  She didn't tell her parents that she even auditioned for BB, much less that she was leaving for CA.  She told her girlfriend, her manager (at the steakhouse she works in), and "they told her sister".  I guess that means that BB contacted her sister---why would they do that?  Maybe we should ponder on that one.

10.  Her mother has breast cancer and Annie had to shave her head when she was 16.  It sounds like she is still alive, though.  Her father has muscular scerosis (sp?) and she said a little while ago that he is retired because he "was a big mess".  I guess that MS is what she meant by that.

11.  If she were to have a cocktail, it would be vodka, water, lemon and lime on the rocks.  "It's refreshing!"

12. She hates it when people vote for their best friend on the jury, and feels that if someone lied, cheated and stole in the game then they might deserve to win it.  I think she is a Natalie fan and isn't happy that Jordan won last year.

13.  I think Annie is going to be interesting to watch, and the source of a lot of action of some sort.  She described herself in the beginning of the interview as being "overly dramatic", but then mentions later that she hates it when people are too dramatic in the house.  She gives as an example when the people in last year's jury house were super-upset about Natalie being 24 instead of 18.

14.  Is Annie the Saboteur?  I don't think so, from her response to Chelsea asking her about the twist.  She said she is scared of the twists but will try to remain calm.  Seemed genuine to me.

15.  She is concerned with potential nude pictures of her in the shower.  Chelsea gave her a few pointers about towel placement, etc.

16.  She has a french bulldog named Mr. Cubbybears.  She got really animated about him and reeled off his birthday and the fact that he is a Cancer.  Ha ha ha.  It's her first pet that is her own---not her family's pet.

17. She plans to lay low in the house for a few weeks in the beginning.

18.  I'm going to try not to hate Annie.  I think I may end up there, but I will try to give her the benefit of the doubt.  I'm keeping my eye on her, thought.  I"ll be watching.

19.  I have been to the steakhouse she works in (Amerone's) and it is actually really good---it doesn't pretend that it is high-falutin' but is still nice enough to feel like a treat.  I think I had grilled seafood instead of steak, but hey when you are in Florida you have to take advantage, no?  I did have a few cocktails but I don't think Annie poured them----she has only been there about a year.
